SCVMM 2012 SP1 latest updates lost virtual switch settings after upgrade host OS from Windows Server 2012 to 2012 R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just upgraded my host OS from Windows Server 2012 to 2012 R2 which just released to TechNet subscription yesterday.

The compatibility reports did not show anything regarding to SCVMM

But after the upgrade, all of my virtual switch settings in virtual machine manager lost.

I did a quick investigation and found that the "Hyper-v Virtual Switch Extension Adapter" driver seems to have some problem.

Is it because of the SCVMM 2012 SP1 did not compatible with new Windows Server 2012 R2? need to release a patch for it?

  • Windows 2012 R2 is not one of supported OS for VMM 2012 Sp1

You may need VMM 2012 R2 to be able to manage it

  • Server 2012 R2 is NOT _released_

It is still a beta release.

It is not full release until October.

You will only be able to manage it with SCVMM 2012 R2 which will release when Server 2012 actually releases.
