Old MSRT updates being pushed to server and failing RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 installation that's getting both the August and September Malicious Software Removal Tool updates listed as Needed in WSUS. Every time I attempt to install I get an APPCRASH error for application name Windows-KB890830-x64-V5.51.exe.

I have already tried a Windows Update reset and an SFC Scan. The server does not run any antivirus software. I downloaded the September update from the MS update catalog and attempted to run it but got the same error.

How can I get this out of the list of needed updates for this machine?

  • Hi,

Did you installed MSRT successfully on that 2008R2 server ?

Only one 2008R2 server experienced "app-crash" during installing KB890830 ?

    Best Regards,

    Elton

I never did, I just hide the updates now. There are now four old updates that are marked as needed but fail to install.
