  • Hi,

Just wanted to know if disabling ICS on a host will effect guests running on VMware workstation such as effecting access to the Internet, if they are either in bridged or NAT.

  • What can disabling ICS impact? Which scenarios can be impacted by disabling ICS?

  • Hi,

If you have VMWare (Workstation 6.5.1, 6.5.2, Server 2.0.1, Player) which doesn’t support NAT on Windows 7 (RC1), you can ping servers and do nslookups but not use your Internet Browser or ssh/telnet etc. Then you can use the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS).

Otherwise, there is no effect as Gaffa-R mentioned.

Also, for deep theory how VMWare work with ICS, you should ask VMWare support since they will be more familiar with their products.
