Removing a site and disabling replications . RRS feed

  • Hi,

        I want to remove a branch site from from Active Directory Sites and Services in 2008 R2 (Main DC)  is there a procedure to remove by or can it be done by selecting delete manually please let me know.

     I think the server 2008 on branch Office,run dcpromo /forceremoval (on branch Office server),and then do a metadatacleanup.Finaly check the repadmin /replsum on PDC for replication health

  • Yes you can remove a site simply by highlighting it and selecting delete. The above poster assumed you had a server in that site that you had to forcibly remove as it was not contactable.

    Correct its not on the same site well if i do selecting delete whether i have to start by selecting from NTDS because it does includes SUBNET, INTER-SITE TRANSPORT and the BRANCH SITE configurations, technically is it correct by selecting the Branch-Site and deleting altogether or is there is a procedure to do accordingly. please let me know.

    If you have branch sites, you must remove branch sites associated with each central site before you remove the central sites from your deployment.

  • The suggested article is for lync server 2010 is it suitable for 2008 R2 AD sites and services also i have only one central and branch site and with respect to the article whether i have to delete the sites in the branch that points to central once the replication is over and then i have to do the same in the central site as well.

    In the blog article it says

    Before deleting a site link, you should ensure that its member sites will still belong to at least one existing site link.

    The 2nd site doesnt have any replication other site members only it does replicates from the main DC so according to the above statement i dont have to make sure about it,
