IIS 7.5 Windows 2008 R2 makes browsers hang when special characters are in the URL or even spaces RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I have a Windows 2008 R2 server with IIS on and whenever someone requests a page with special characters or spaces in the URL the browser times out. It's like the server fails to respond.

If I request a page that doesn't exist it immediately shows an error message that comes from the server. If i request a page that doesn't exist with special characters the browser times out. This only happens on this server.

I also tried to create a new site on the server but it has the same issues.

I have enabled "Allow Double-Escaping" for the site and even if I hadn't I guess the browser should time out but show an error.

Any ideas on how to fix this or troubleshoot it ?
