Exchange 2010 to Exchnage 2016 Migration RRS feed

  • Question

  • Need to know the steps for migrating exchange 2010 on premise to exchange 2016.

Do we need of clients  while we just bring in exchange 2016 in the environment , I mean users on exchange 2010 will connect to exchange 2010 without any interruptions . That is internal as well as external before we switch the autodiscover and other urls.?

  • Till the time you r not switching your autodiscover and external URL to exchange 2016, Users will not be impacted by the installation of exchange 2016. But once you move your external URL to exchange 2016 you have to setup the virtual directories, certificate, external/internal URL and make sure the authentication method is same on both 2010 and 16.

Then it ll be all set and users on 2010 can be silently redirected to exchange 2010.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

Agree with yspintu, it’ll not be affect until you change them to 16. You can refer to the following blog:
