COMCFG share missing after MS11-082 patch RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does anyone experience a problem with comcfg share gone missing after patching ?

Application popup: Host Integration Server   -   ERROR # 0633  : The sharename COMCFG does not exist, or the Host Integration Server configuration file COM.CFG does not exist.

Recently we have installed Aug MS patches which include MS11-082.

After installing MS11-082, 3 servers could not restart SNA services due to COMCFG share has gone missing. I have checked the eventlog and the problem occurred before the reboot as well as after the reboot.

As soon as I put back the share, I could start SNA services.

  • Peter,

The error was not likely a result of applying the security update. This was released over a year ago and we haven't had any reports of this occurring because of the fix. The fix is also included in the current Host Integration Server 2009 and 2010 cumulative updates so a lot of customers have this applied.

The more likely cause is that some permissions were changed or a policy was applied that removed the share or something along those lines.
