Application fails to install when imaging from USB. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

I have a small site that will be upgraded to Win7, my team and I think its is best to go over spend a day and upgrade all the machines using USB drives since its a very small office.

During my test here the deployment fails at installing the applications, I only have Office 2010, ScrewDriver for Remote printing through RDP, Symantec AV, HP printer drivers.

Here is the link for the SMSTS.log http://pastebin.com/EW1aQ3tD

First I created the media to c:/Media

changed the rules a little, than I updated the media, copied all contents from deployment to a ntfs portioned USB drive.

Booted the desktop from USB installed the OS and it rebooted, after a few seconds when desktop was booted a red screen appeared with 8 errors.

FYI, everything is the same as my WDS deployment, only difference is now I want to boot from USB.

I can image a desktop fine with no errors when booting from the network.

    Many thanks.

    JD.

  • I looked at your log file in CMTrace and found this:

Any idea why ScrewDriver would fail to install? I'm not familiar with that software. Is ScrewDriver in the selection profile used to create the Media?

  • Nick,

Here is the link for info on ScrewDriver http://www.tricerat.com/products/screwdrivers

When I create the media I choose profile Everything, also I do not have a profile for my applications.

I just add them the TS Install Application and edit the CustomSettings.ini, If I do boot from the network there is no errors the deployment does everything that I need it to do.

Do I need to have a profile to install applications?
