Remove the mark "Update fields before printing" in Word RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

I've been reading quite a lot about this, and I have the configuration through GPO.

User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Microsoft Word 2010\Word Options\Display\Update fields before printing set to Disable.

But, I want to do it through GPP with a targeting for a specific set of users. I don't know the regkey that applies to this option within Word, but I need your help with this part.

If it's not possible, then I'll have to set up another GPO as local on the site, I want to configure the option like that. I can't think of other options.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Paul,

I have to do it through GPO because it's a requirement from one of our sites, they request it. But I was trying to find the way to do it with a GPP instead a GPO.

My idea was to use a GPP to target a security group only with the users that want that option removed, but seems not possible.

Thanks anyway, I'll do it with a local GPO just on that site.

  • Trying to do that would be futile, as users can re-set it at any time. Besides which, turning that setting to 'off' for your users is generally undesirable and is likely to incur their opprobrium.

If you have particular documents that you need to prevent field updates on at print time, you'd do better to implement a print macro that locks the fields concerned before printing and unlocks them again afterwards.
