Services not starting RRS feed

  • Question

  • Windows 8 Pro - virtually nothing in the Modern UI works and I really don't care.

However, the Resource and Performance Monitor shows the following services as 'not started..

    CscService
    Display
    Name:
    Offline Files
    Exit Code: 3
    Service
    Name:
    CscService
    Path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k
    LocalSystemNetworkRestricted
    Service
    Code:
    0
    Started: False
    State: Stopped
    MSMQ
    Display
    Name:
    Message Queuing
    Exit Code: 1066
    Service
    Name:
    MSMQ
    Path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\mqsvc.exe
    Service
    Code:
    -1072824319
    Started: False
    State: Stopped
    NetMsmqActivator
    Display
    Name:
    Net.Msmq Listener Adapter
    Exit Code: 1068
    Service
    Name:
    NetMsmqActivator
    Path: "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\SMSvcHost.exe"
    -NetMsmqActivator
    Service
    Code:
    0
    Started: False
    State: Stopped

I have looked for reasons why but have not found much. Running CMD commands has no effect.

    Why is this happening?

  • Too late for any of that. Within 24hrs, almost nothing was working and I have since re-installed Windows 8 on another HDD.. :-(

  • Run ProcessMonitor in Backbground while you try to start the service. Look for errors in the Result column of services.exe
