SP2010 - MIgration related queries RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

We have existing production MOSS 2007 small server(64 bit) farm environment (1 App Server, 1 db server). In this we have multiple features for Infopath form & its related visual studio customized work flow, integration third party web service and BDC web service for reading database from third party sql server database. Now we are planning to migrate to MOSS to SP2010. So we have created same type of server environment and then will copy the content database from production server and attach content databse to an new sp2010 spplication.

    Now I have following queries

    1. As we copy the content database from MOSS, will we face some issue to using same infopath form template? If not thne which approach we should adopt to use same form?
    2. How to configure BCS web service using some BDC definition?
    3. As we have various features (customized workflows), if we copy the content database thne as per my assumption we will find so many missing feature reference, do we need to re-deploy the feature using VS2010? How do we delete old references?

Please advise how do we deploy solutions/features seamless?

  • Before you attach the content database, you should see if any solution packages or features can be removed from your original farm.  You will then need to install the remaining solution packages and features on your server before attaching the content database.  Your InfoPath form templates should not be an issue provided you install them on your new sp2010 farm before attaching.  Use the Test-SPContentDatabase PowerShell command to see if you have any missing solution packages, features, or web parts.
