Essentials connector fails with VPN Client Utils: Error 632 returned from RasSetEntryProperties.

    Question

  • I have 8 machines on a new Essentials 2016 server. All computers connect fine except one. The one that fails connected fine before but had to be restored due to a software issue unrelated to the server. The computer was removed from Essentials server and reset. Since the reset the computer refuses to connect to the server via the connector and fails with this error:

[2492] 180319.083729.1498: VPN Client Utils: Error 632 returned from RasSetEntryProperties.

[2492] 180319.083729.1498: ClientSetup: RAS exception: An incorrect structure size was detected.

I'm stuck at what else can be done at this point. Here's the full log to the Client Deployment.

  • PC that I was having trouble with was on preview version build 17120.

Downloaded and created a fresh release build of Windows 10 and installed it (to force rollback of preview build). Connector worked fine, issue is with the preview build it seems. Now on version 10.0.16299 Build 16299.

  • Hi,

What is your client OS name and version? Please run “msinfo32” on the client and check detail information.

    >The computer was removed from Essentials server and reset.
Please try to add a new local admin account on the client, log on using this new account and try to connet to WSE and check the result.

    Best Regards,

  • Having the same issue here too.

    Windows 10 Pro, Build 17134.1:

    Cannot install client.

I also receive the error, "An unexpected error has occured."

The only error in my ClientDeploy.log is:

VPN Client Utils: Error 632 returned from RasSetEntryProperties.

  • I am also having the same problem. My machine was joined as a domain client, then reset to be a workgroup computer and has the skip domain flag set.

If the answer is to reinstall windows 10 on the client, I'm worried about losing a bunch of licensed apps but if I have to I will.  Thanks!
