Submissions Message Que Growing Abnormally long

    Question

  • We have a issue with our submissions que growing abnormally long. We are running Exchange 2010. This morning we noticed a delay in emails coming through, It was around 250 Messages in the que. It has now grown to over 750. The storage space that the exchange VM was on was running out of space and VM's on the host stopped working. We increased the space and was able to power on the VM's again. However we are still bouncing between 650 - 800 Emails in the que. Is there anything we can try or do?

  • Hi ,

    Try to restart "MSExchangeMailSubmission" service on the hub server and check again.

    If still the same, try the following command to resume these messages:

    Resume-Message -Filter {FromAddress -eq "*yourdoamin.com"}

  • Turns out our Barracuda Spam firewall was causing the issue. The connector to exchange was installed on the exchange server and the AV database on the spam firewall was corrupt. Stopping the connector service had no effect we had to uninstall the connector. Once that was done, emails started flowing correctly again.
