Pass Excel user as Project owner to filter his projects with Odata RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Team,

I am trying to develop a Project online report with Odata in Excel.

    Requirement:

Can i pass the login-ed excel user to odata filter like ProjectOwner='Excel Logged in user or system logged in user' in order to filter only his projects.(same Concept like row level security in Power BI but with excel).

Please let me know how to proceed.

    Kind Regards,

    VinodM

  • I don't believe this is possible as OData is not security trimmed.  You either get ALL of the data or none of it.   RLS works as a feature within Power BI and the Power BI service, I know of no equivalent in Excel; however USERPRINCIPALNAME() is a DAX function and therefore it should work in Excel (but I haven't checked).   If may be that you could use the function to filter the data?
