Command Prompt error message: Access is denied RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am getting an "Access is denied" when I try to run a command from the command prompt.  The command is:  set . C:\environment.txt.  When i type this and hit enter I get the error message.

I tried setting up an an administrator account (on the advice of my instructor) but it doesn't seem to effect being able to work from the command prompt.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit.

    This has got me baffled.

    Thank you.

  • Not really acceptable. A user with write privileges to a device should not have to try to run as Administrator, particularly if they are not one of the anointed few who have such 'good' fortune.
