VM NIC loses connectivity - Rebooting VM fixes the issue

  • Hi,

I have a 2012 R2 VM on a 2012 R2 hyper-v host. The VM loses connectivity to the network. Connecting to the VM through the HV console I see the NIC being connected but no Activity change.

The following events are logged on the host:

    Event 113, Hyper-V-VmSwitch

Failed to allocate VMQ for NIC <GUID> (Friendly Name: Ethernet Port) on switch <GUID> (Friendly Name: SWITCH1). Reason - VMQ conflicts with the VLAN setting. Status = The specified request is not a valid operation for the target device.

    Event 95, Hyper-V-VmSwitch

The VLAN configuration being set on port <GUID> (Friendly Name: <GUID>) on switch <GUID> (Friendly Name: Switch1) is invalid. Reason: Invalid property size

Rebooting the VM fixes the issue.

Does anyone have any insights into this issue?
