Software Update Deployment Package does not show updates even though Package source has update files RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a way to fix a Software Update Deployment Package so that it will pick up the updates that are contained in it's Package Source folder? I have a deployment package on an offline SCCM system where the Deployment Package shows "No items found" even though the package source has about 50 or so update files.

No. Update packages are more than just the files in their source directories. You can't just manually add files in the source directory and have them added to the package. You need to properly download the updates from the console or using an ADR into the package. Both of the options allow you to specify an alternate UNC location from which to download the content from. This location should *not* be the same as the package source location or overlap with it in any way though.
