How to correctly move user profile

Question
-
When creating user profile during first user logon Windows Vista creates special folders for backward compatibility with programs designed to earlier versions of Windows such as "Application Data", "Cookies", "Local Settings", ... and "Templates" at the root of the folder. It is symbolic links with special ACLs. When I move profile folder to any other place I lose the functionality of this folders.
I know the only method for escaping the problem. It is assigning profile path to user account, i.e. converting local profile to roaming profile in order to OS would copying profile to desired place after user logoff.
I want to know easier and faster method.Monday, October 19, 2009 4:07 PM

Hi,
Thank you for your post.
Based on my research, you may try USMT and I would like to share the following with you:
Windows User State Migration Tool (USMT) Version 3.0.1
Hope this helps. Thanks.

I found this site to be helpful when transferring my user profile to a different hard drive partition. http://www.windows7hacker.com/index.php/2009/05/how-to-change-user-profile-default-location-in-windows-7/Sunday, November 15, 2009 7:03 PM
