Any word on upcoming books or training from MS covering UAG? RRS feed

  • Question

  • My company will likely be moving toward implementing a UAG solution soon after the final release, as it seems to be a very strong and capable solution.  My managers are, however, concerned about the sparse documentation that is currently available, and a lot of our testing has been very much trial and error.  Does anyone on the Microsoft side have anything to share around timing of potential admin training offerings, workshops, or books that may cover the UAG solution?

    Thanks

  • In my conversations with MSFT they indicated that there is documentation on the way.  Apparently it's currently in 'draft' and no word on availability dates (hopefully close to RTM).  We were specifically looking for some development assistance for customizing authentication and authorization schemes, as this is practically non-existent for IAG.

That being the case, the IAG User Guide and Advanced User Guide are still somewhat relevent to UAG, as a lot of the underlying stuff has been carried over.  It also seems the IAG/UAG community is growing, which also a definite help.

  • Hi,

Currently, even pre-RTM, UAG has a very extensive TechNet library. It is available here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd861463.aspx
We are committed to expand it even more.

    Thanks,

  • Yep, Meir's recommend on the technet library is great- I find it extremely useful. You could also contact Celestix Networks regarding in-office training and see what their timelines are. It doesn't matter if you use their appliance or not, their training is a separate product. For obvious reasons, UAG training won't be available until after the public release of UAG 2010, even then I would wait a few months.

    Thanks
    Dennis!

  • Hi JDP,

You might be interested to know that there's a new book coming out about UAG, and that might help. The book is actually already partially out as PDFs, and will be finished in a few weeks:
