call and view information in sharepoint 2013 profile

    Question

  • how can I use Profile synchronization  in order to provides a reliable way to synchronize groups and user profile information that is stored in the SharePoint Server 2013 profile database together with information that is stored in directory services across the enterprise especially non-Microsoft identity solution for example we stored human resource information in another app which is not based on sharepoint and has .net platform with sql server database Is it possible to read information of each user from database and show them in user profile if it is possible how can we do it ?

  • Hi Maria,

You may need to create Multiple Synchronization Connections to achieve this. Also, you can use LDAP to authenticate users using the LdapMembershipProvider, enabling LDAP authentication in SharePoint using FBA (In your case any Custom database storing user credentials).

you can implement FBA using LDAP for the user profiles in custom database(outside SharePoint), which points to Active Directory to authenticate the users.  you can use Active Directory as the LDAP provider for FBA, and can import the users with a connection to Active Directory with one special change. The key is to set the Authentication Provider Type to Forms Based Authentication, and choose the FBA provider that you’ve already configured (this value will be picked up from the web.config in Central Administration).

Following links can help you in implementing this:-
