Windows Serve 2008 will not see USB drive for backup destination RRS feed

    All,

    I'm attempting to setup backups on a new Windows 2008 server and for whatever reason when I go into the Backup scheduler, it says it cannot find a USB drive attached to my system, therefore it will not let me select the drive as a valid destination.

    I can see the drive from Explorer as well as from within the disk management software, so I know it's working.   I just can't get the backup scheduler to recognize it.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi Sam,

    USB based pen drives are not a supported target for backups. More information on backup target supported types is avaliable in the "Choosing a storage location" section of this help web page http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753528.aspx (similar info is there in the help in Backup scheduler).
