adding computers in Group with approved updates RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

should the update approved to the group apply to the newly added computers?

    Example:

    1. under Computers, group Group_1 is created

    2. 10 computers added to Group_1 and are members only of this group

    3. one patch is applied only to Group_1 and is successfully deployed

    THE Question:

would the patch will apply to newly added to Group_1 computers?

    Why posting the question?

Because have a doubt that straightforward logic works.

I assumed that there should not be any problem when adding new computers to the Group with preapproved updates. And added 25 computers to the existing Group with 25 pcs. From first 25 I had about 10 failed. After adding new 25 computers to this group I found that there was no additional failures and I know they should be. So I doubt that the update applied to the group ever tried to be installed on recently added computers.

That is why I am asking... For now I just removed approval from the group and Approved again. So tomorrow I could see the result.

My question is about by design behavior. Logically, the updates Approved to the group should be applied to any added computer... May be it is something on my WSUS...

    Thx.

  • Hi pob,

    >should the update approved to the group apply to the newly added computers?

Yes, if you approve updates for group1, then add new computers to group1, the approved updates can also be downloaded by new added computer if they need the update.
