TS Continue after Restart RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a few software deployment tasks (not part of OSD) on a TS which requires restarts after software uninstallation and after software installation.  The issue I'm seeing is that TS does not continue until a user logs in after a restart.  The packages do not require user interaction and run using administrative credentials (system account?).  Can TS continue w/o user login or is this as engineered?  Do I need to do something special for this to work w/o user login?

    Thanks.

  • Hey Jack,

    I'm not sure what OS you're using but here's how I did this once for Windows XP.  Hopefully it'll be of some help.

    In the [GuiUnattended] section of sysprep.inf, AutoLogonCount=999.  This allowed me to reboot a bunch of times, which decrements the AutoLogonCount in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/221477

    "Once the AutoLogonCount value reaches zero, the AutoAdminLogon value is set to 0 (disabled), and the AutoLogonCount value in the Winlogon key is removed."

    I believe I set AutoLogonCount to 1 before doing the final reboot, but there might be an easier way to disable the autologon when you're done.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers,
    Dave

  • Hi,

    I have solved this on a Windows 7 by adding the following reg key.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]

    "AutoAdminLogon"="1"
    "DefaultUserName"="Administrator"
    "DefaultPassword"="password"

    This will enable autologon and your TS will continue to run.

    I delete the key again as the last step of my TS.

    Cheers,

    Yes, they can continue after a reboot even without someone being logged-on (just tested that in my lab; ConfigMgr 2007 SP2 / Win7 Client).
