WSUS 3.2 (HOw does RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

I am a IT Engineer and together with 3 other colleagues we maintain a few sites, one of those sites has the following setup :
    +/- 20 Servers (virtual).
    +/- 200 users.
One of these servers is an server 2008 R2 with sccm and wsus integrated.

    1) I haven't worked a lot with sccm and wsus but I would like to know the following :
Is it possible to configure sccm to push a minimum set of critical updates to all domain connected laptops and desktops, all other non important update must be downloaded from the windows update site (Not from the local sccm server !)

And is it possible to configure an option to look at the windows update site when sccm isn't available ?Thank you all for reading, and please leave your feedback, tips !

    Greets.

  • Hi Sebastian,

    1. The update source setting can only be from Microsoft Update or Local Server, we cannot choose a different option depending on the classification of the update. You can create for that minimum set of critical updates a software distribution package and push only these in this manor.

    2. No, this is only possible for System Center Endpoint Protection/Windows Defender with the setting below:

  • Hi Sebastian,

Andrei has provided the answer that there's no option for your requirement on SCCM. If you have further question about how SCCM works with updates, you may turn to SCCM forum for better help:

    SCCM forum:

If you have other questions about using WSUS server for update, feel free to post here.

    Best Regards,

    Anne
