  • Hi Support,

    I have 2 Dell R710,  duel AMD Processor opteron 6238  , RAID 5 configured hard disk size 600*3 usable size is 1200Gb,  64Gb Ram size. having 4 gigabit ethenet port

    I have installed windows 2008R2 hyperv standard edition core OS.

    One Serve for web application installed 13VM all are windows 2008R2 web edition and IIS is installed. each OS have 80GB hard disk size, 4Gb Ram, processor managed by OS

    Another Server for DB. 8VM All are Windows 2008R2 standard editon OS and SQL Server 2008R2 standard edition. One Server  having 4 SQL Server instand and another server having 3 Sql saerver instance. other have one sql server instance installed.

    Now problem is server are slow, one ethernet port is shared to 4VM's

    Applications are loading to take more time and database server also very slow.

  • Your problem is disk contention.  First, RAID5 is slow.  Second, you have 13 Windows OSes spread across 3 spindles.  Third, you're using multiple databases, which are I/O intensive across the same 3 spindles.  Image what your hard drives are doing bouncing around between those 13 VMs splitting up the read/write tasks.

    You need more disks and a different RAID solution.

  • You could repost in the Hyper-V forum, there will be a lot more Hyper-V users viewing your post there, this forum is specific to Virtual Server 2005
