We got some "NTFS - Delayed Write Lost" related to backup of Hyper-V VM. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, We got some "NTFS - Delayed Write Lost" related to backup of Hyper-V VM. Looks like it is not mutch to do about it, just wait for the next DPM job to protect Hyper-V VM (my need to reboot the DPM-server to get it work next time).

    NTFS - Delayed Write Lost

    {Delayed Write Failed}

    Windows was unable to save all the data for the file . The data has been lost.

    This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

    Looks like the best solution is to set up MBS with SSD Tiered Storage to speed up the disk I/O? Other thinks to look in to?

  • Hi,

    NTFS - Delayed Write Lost -> it refers to a part of the memory management of Windows. You can also consider enabling write-back cache in the storage subsystem as it will also improve the overall disk performance.

    Check below link to know more about NTFS - Delayed Write Lost.

    MBS with SSD tiered storage is definitely the best recommendation but for that you need to recreate the storage pool, or add an new pool and migrate datasources to it.

    Hope this answers your question. Thanks.
