Include items from a single list in results RRS feed

  • Question

  • By default the search results only include documents and pages.

Is there a way to change this, so that the results include items from a list (e.g. with the Title matching the searched term).

  • The Title is included in the Manager Properties.

What was missing and is apparently required is setting the Title on the list an indexed column.

As soon as I added Title to indexed columns the results included individual items as well.

  • Hi,

That is not entirely correct. Default all lists and libraries are included (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-server-help/enable-content-to-be-searchable-HA010379092.aspx).

What you have to set up with FS4SP is the mapping of the columns. Each columns in a list will default be assigned to a crawled property. This crawled property you will have to map to a managed property. Either an existing one, or create a new one which is searchable. Title should already be mapped thought and be searchable assuming you have rights to the list.
