    Hello,

    We have recently implemented our first Survivable Branch Appliance in our Lync Topology.  Everything is working fine but I have a question regarding the 2008 R2 server that the SBA runs.

    Normally on all servers as a bare minimum we install:

    • AntiVirus 
    • SCOM Agent
    • SCCM Agent (Windows updates are deployed via SCCM)

    I have been trying to find out what the best practice is with in regards to installing these on an SBA or weather they should be installed at all?  So far my search has found nothing, if they can be installed what precautions/exclusions should be made?

    Hi,

    we use on all SBA the Scom Agent and a Antivirus Solution.

    You should exclude Special Folders for the SBA and also for Lync

    We have a Special Policy for Windows updates on SBA, because the Installation could stop the SBA Services and the users will logon to our Lync FE.

    We don't want this behavior during the business hours and start the updates manually in the Server maintanance time

    Hi,

     

    As I know, you can install those programs on Windows Server 2008 R2 that is resided on SBA device. The process is same with you other Servers as the device could be within Domain. I suggest you also try to ask SBA vendor to get further information.
