DPM 2012 Direct Access - DCOM problems RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I wish to protect our DirectAccess connected laptops with DPM. On a test Win 7 machine all works fine whilst on the LAN, but backups are failing over DirectAccess.

Basic DA connectivity seems ok, the client can access other corporate resources and can ping the DPM server, DPM server can ping the client. Changes in DPM policy propagate to the client, but backups fail. The System log on the DPM server is full of event 10009 "DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer [FQDN] using any of the configured protocols".

The dpmra and DPMRA_DCOM_135 firewall rules exist on the client, created by SetDPMServerName.exe - I've edited these to allow edge traversal.

I've followed the advice to add a registry entry for mixed IPv4 / v6 environments - adding the PingBeforeConnect REG_DWORD to both the client and the server.

I'm running the latest update of DPM 4.0.1920.0

Any suggestions where to go from here? This is driving me nuts!

    Thanks,

    Tim
