  • Are you still having problems with the system registry hive growing?  There is an updates version of vhdmp.sys (the file updated in 982210) available in 2614122 - "Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer may stop responding when dynamic VHDs that are created on the computer experience high I/O activity" at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;2614122.

  • Can anyone please help out with this. The size of the registry is still increasing and my cluster (with all of our VMs) will sooner or later fail.

  • I was partialy able to "resolve" this by using the steps outlined: http://virtuallyaware.wordpress.com/2010/06/18/hotfix-kb982210-windows-server-2008-r1r2-hang-at-logon-bug-deep-dive/

The event's still occur and the registry size increases, but I now at least have a workaround. A proper fix, response would still be appreciated.

  • Thank you for this.

While I still get the events he registry growth has completely stopped, most probably due to a sheduled task executing DevNodeClean that runs each day after backup.
