RMS not working for On premises Ad user which has no RMS configuration RRS feed

  • Dear Sir,

    I have migrate some exchange user from onpremises ex2010 to cloud. All cloud users are able to use RMS facility for protection of documents. 

    But if they send rms protected documents or rms protected mail to n premises ad user then they are not able to open this mails or documents.

    please guide how to resolve this issue.

  • How was exchange online configured. Was the Trusted Publishing Domain from an on-prem ADRMS server imported, or was this pure Azure RMS?

    If it's the former, then the users will need to be synced to Azure so they can be authenticated in the cloud services before it will issue a decryption license.

    They will also either need to be on Office 2013 or later OR have the Rights Management Sharing Application installed for Offfice 2010.

  • What symptoms or errors are you seeing?
    Can you try running the RMS Analyzer tool and see what it reports?
