Is there a way to generate the .magic file for a FiXML file? RRS feed

  • Question

  • My FAST for SP 2010 keeps trying to verify its FiXML database and failing with an error message:

directory_parser (D:\FASTSearch\data\data_fixml): Failed parsing fixml file (D:\FASTSearch\data\data_fixml\Set_014189\Elem_c2.xml.gz): Could not locate magic file D:\FASTSearch\data\data_fixml\Set_014189\Elem_c2.xml.gz.magic

I tried verifyMagicFile in rtsearchrc.xml, deleted the FiXML db and the hash file, etc. I see that the referenced .magic file is indeed missing. Is there a way to generate the magic file with a command line utility?  If not, can I simply delete the FiXML file so the verification can be completed successfully. I'm willing to accept some data loss as a result. Re-crawling 13M docs is out of question.

    Thanks, -Erkan
