DNS Problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a member server in a in a High school with an instance of SQL server. The Server is on 10.134.x.x IP. A client in a remote primary school with an IP 10.135.x.x can ping an IP address of the Server in a High school. The server and the Client are on different domains. I have installed an application on the Client machine that uses a SQL instance in the primary school by exiting the local Hosts file. I have also managed to map a network share from the server in the High school.

How should I configure the DNS in the primary school to enable all the clients ping the Server in the High school by its name. The primary school DNS is active directory integrated PPP.Internal.

I tried to create a forwarder but did not work, not  sure if relies on trusts to be configured.

We are on the same broadband connected through a LAN Extension, separated by firewall. I can RDP to the primary school

    Any ideas please
