Requested Package could not be found in the System Data Store RRS feed

  • Question

  • Running AppV 4.5 RTM. If I store my package in a shared content directory on the AppV server I receive the following error on the client when trying to launch the app. (Server refresh works on client and icons to application are streamed to client desktop). Also, if I place the package into the default content directory created by the install: c:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center App Virt Management Server\App Virt Management Server\content, the client will successfully launch the app. I would like to place my \content directory somewhere other than the default location, however.

  • Hi,

This usually is because the package file (SFT file) is not in the place where it says it is in the Packages -node in the Management Console. In your case server most likely tries to find it from visio2k3_Standard -subdirectory as indicated by the error-message, does your directory for this package differ from this name? If so, just change the relative path in the packages -node and you should be golden!

  • Kalle,

    Thank you for your reply:

My package path is as follows:

    \\tsappv\content\Visio2k3_Standard

in the Management Console the relative path is: visio2k3_standard\vis2k3st.sft

in the Management Console I have the Default content path set to: \\tsappv\content

  • Hmm, there is case-difference in names (unless you created it now when you typed the paths) so you might want to try to adjust one or another.. Not that it should be case-sensitive but you never know!

Another suggestion: is RTSP (aka port 554) enabled on your Management Server? By default 4.5 installation only enables RTSPS with 322 if server has valid certificate for it and leaves 554 closed. You can check this from Server Group -> Default Server Group > Your server -> Properties -> Ports -tab.

  • RTSP is selected under the ports tab. I did not set the server up with security certificates yet.....I didn't want to complicate things

    Thanks again.

  • The KB article with instructions for changing the content directory resolved the issue. Thanks for your help, I had looked everywhere and never thought to look into the registry for the setting. Eventhough in the Management console I was specifiying my alternate location, the registry setting was still the default content path.

  • The Setting in the Management Console only defines the default location for the OSD and ICO files.
It _is_ a little bit strange that the App-V Management Server's can't be set int the reigstry, indeed.

  • The path on 4.6 Sp1 has changed slightly (on a 64-bit server) to HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\SoftGrid\4.5\Server - SOFTGRID_CONTENT_DIR
