  • Hello

is there any way to know the IP address of a host machine (Server 2k3/2k8) from it's guest computer (XP/7)?

the main issue is when you have many host server hosting many guest computers. and for 1 reason you would know the IP address of a guest computer, and you remote connect to it; how would it be possible to find the IP address of it's host server?

  • Dear Youssef,
as reported in the below link, this would present a considerable security breach
as in most cases hosts and guests are in different networks.

As it is the case also in Hyper-V and for any other Enterprise Class Hypervisor,
hosts do have dedicated NICs for management physically separated from the VM's network
to prevent any security related threat in any VM to go threaten Hosts and by the way all guested VMs
thing that would be a true disaster if it happens....
