cannot change desktop RRS feed

  • Question

  • when trying to change the desktop image or theme states one or more of the options has been disabled by the administrator. I have no idea how this happened or how to change it. The option to change from admin is greyed out as well.

  • Hi,

Is your computer joined to a domain? If so,  the network administrator may enforce Group Policy settings preventing users from changing the Desktop Wallpaper and  themes. You can open a command prompt and type: GPResult to view the Group Policy settings applied on your computer.

If your computer doesn’t belong to a domain, please go to the following location to see if the Local Desktop Group Policy settings are applied:

    1)    Click Start and type: GPEdit.msc in the Start Search box.

    2)    Open Local Group Policy Editor and navigate to the following entries:

    User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Personalization

Check if “Prevent changing desktop background”, “Prevent changing theme” and other entries are enabled.

    Best Regards

    Dale
