Physical memory more than 90% RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

we have ADFS server for which physical memory is constantly above 90%, the process which is consuming highest memory is Microsoft.identityserver.servicehost.ext and username o365service account.

and if i am not wrong we cannot restart the above service, as it will affect the users

Can any one advise how to bring it down.

  • You should go through the classic troubleshooting around memory consumption with xperf...

Note that users are not maintaining a session with the ADFS server. They just go to it when they need token. Once they have a token for the application they need to access, the access to this app doesn't break when you restart the ADFS server. The only issue you might have is user trying to get access (or be redirected) to the ADFS server at while you are restarting.

Note that if you have a farm of ADFS server, you can also configure your probing on your load balancer to avoid the node you are restarting, mitigating the issues mentioned above.

  • Hello

we removed the ADFS server from the load balancer and restarted it and physical memory dropped from 90% to 22%

And what could be the possible cause?
