Blue screen after java update... please help!!?!? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I have a problem with my dell computer. I recently installed an update for JAVA and it went to restart my computer to finish the update, when it restarted the computer froze, I had to hold the power button to shut off. Now I can't get the computer on, the screen tells me to run recovery or start normally. when i press recovery it goes to the blue screen, when i press start normally it goes to loading but never goes anywhere. I have tried the installation cds and the safe mode option, all of which give me a blue screen. I have a windows vista.
I have pressed F8, and tried the 'repair your computer' option, it looks like its about to load but then gives a blue screen.

the blue screen always says the same thing...
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer" then it says if this is the first time seeing this message, restart your compputer, othrewise press f8 and go into safe mode. at the bottom of the blue screen it says:
    "***STOP:0x0000c1F5, (0xFFFFFFFFc07000A, 0xFFFFFA8003FAF000, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000)

  • Hi,

Please unplug all unecessary devices and restart the machine to have a test.

Usually, Java update should not interfer on the hardware lever, from the description, it seems the machine won't even load up using Installation disc, it sounds more likely a hardware issue.

    Regards,

  • Hi,

Based on the situation, I believe it is necessary to take the computer to repair shop as the Installation Disc won't help, we can't boot into Windows.

  • I'm having the same issue on a HP Dv5 or Dv6. I get the blue screen no matter what option; can't start up, can't reload, can't do anything...

The issue arose also after updating JAVA, but it didn't even restart before crashing and dying. Basically it blue screened right before finishing the update, and then went black for the auto restart. And then it gets to the windows loading screen, and then goes to blue screen. All options in safe mode don't work and lead to the blue screen, and reinstall doesn't work as that leads to blue screen as well...

  • Based on Microsoft's documentation of this error,

You will need to backup the data off of the disk that you need to save
    and reinstall Windows Vista,
