  • Question

  •

    ·         Tried uploading a file (106KB) from an NTFS drive to the portal via UNC path.

    ·         The document corrupts maybe 1 (symptom: file size become 107KB)  in 5 times (successful file size 112KB)..
When the file is opened it returns an error, word remains open but document is not opened.

    ·         Uninstalled Microsoft forefront Client security Antimalware Service

    ·         Tried uploading a file from an NTFS drive to the portal via UNC path.

    ·         Out of 50 attempts the document never showed corrupt symptom (file size always 112KB).

We have only found this problem on all our Windows XP computers. The corruption doesn’t appear to happen to Vista computers.

Microsoft forefront Client security Antimalware Service is installed to both platforms with same details in add / remove programs:

We have only seen the problem with “copy and paste” / “drag and drop” via UNC or default SharePoint explorer view paths to SharePoint (both our staff and student portal servers).

We cannot reproduce on any NTFS drives.

  • this is a known issue. This is Jamaica 12530/SBTU bug id 43484... hope they get a fix soon..

    apparent workaround is

    To disable scan on cleanup

    -          Create the following key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MpFilter\Parameters”

    -          Add a DWORD value “ScanOnCleanup” and set it to 0

    -          Restart FCSAM service

    this is not tested yet.

  • Are those bug databases publically available? Is there a list of known bugs for Forefront?
