Firefox and overcoming the Compatibility View Settings challenge RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am working with Project Server 2010 and the default browser is IE 11 - when users first access PWA and attempt to view the Project Centre there is a challenge which is resolved by adding the URL to the list in the Compatibility View settings dialog box.

We recently encountered a problem where updates to a RAG indicator in a Project View are lost. The project field displays RAG indicators which the user can manually change, they are not calculated. In trying to get to the cause of the problem we have tried to use other browsers but don't get very far. I have searched the Web and cannot find definitive and easy to follow instructions on how to overcome the following message:

"This Web Part requires at least Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0. For more information, contact your Project Server Administrator."

We can resolve this in IE but don't know how to do so for Firefox - can anyone point me in the right direction?

  • Only certain pages in PWA 2010 are supported in non IE browsers:

  • Thanks Paul - doesn't really help us make headway with the issues we have recently encountered.

    1. A view as defined in Manage Views displays the selected fields in a different order when applying the view, no amount of tweaking or editing overcomes this anomaly - we are trying to present users with the same layout of relevant fields in both PWA and Project Pro and are finding this "feature" baffling and rather frustrating.
    2. More peculiarly we are finding that a field that employs a lookup table where the user can select a value which is then displayed as a Graphical Indicator is misbehaving - we were aware of the problems of updating Graphical Indicators in PWA views but this recently experienced issue is worse than that. Changes made, saved and published are undone in PWA.

We were hoping to use a different browser to see if these issues were Browser specific but cannot do so due to the limitations you have informed us of in your reply.
