PHIPA, PIPEDA (HIPAA) Compliance for self-employment RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I'm a self-employed psychotherapist in Ontario, Canada. I've bought Office 365 Personal and am trying to find out if that comes with full compliance for my industry (In Canada - PHIPA, PIPEDA.. similar to HIPAA in the US).

I understand that I need to protect my end, and to the best of my knowledge, I have.

If Office 365 Personal isn't compliant for my industry, then what would be?

  • Hi Zimt,

Based on my research, PHIPA, PIPEDA or HIPAA requires an Office 365 global admin permission which is only available to Office 365 business subscriptions.

Then here we mainly focus on general issues about Outlook client, if you have further concerns on this, I'd like to encourage you to contact the Microsoft Store Sales or Customer Support for suggestions on the appropriate plan in your scenario.

    Best regards,
    Yuki Sun

  • Thank you for your answer, Yuki.

I was led here by MS Customer Support when I realized they were attempting to answer my question without really answering my question. I'll see if I can find another sales agent.

Nonetheless, your information helps me a lot.
