New server - performance advice RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello folks,

I am planning to offer new server to our customer and I would like to share it with you because I will appreciate any advice regarding performance options.

I plan to buy new server HP:

    DL380 Gen9 HPE ProLiant Server
    HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 Intel Xeon E5-2620v3 6-Core (2.40GHz 15MB) 16GB (1 x 16GB) PC4-17000P-R 2133MHz RDIMM 3 x 300GB (10k rpm) Hot Plug 2.5in Small Form Factor Smart Carrier SAS Smart Array P440ar/2G DVD-RW 2 x 500W 3yr Next Business Day Warranty + additional 3x HDD and 3x16GB RAM. We will used RAID 10 - 3x2 disk 300GB.

We plan to use it as host for 2 virtual servers on HyperV.

One virtual server will be used as domain controller for small network - max 40PCs plus data storage for company data. Second virtual server will be used for Exchange 2016 only - up to 45 mailboxes.

My question is - does server have enough of memory for these 2 virtuals and is one CPU ok for needed configuration?

Thank you very much for any advice.
