Windows 10 1709 File Explorer slow RRS feed

  • Question

  • My customer is rolling out/upgrading to Windows 10 1709 and is experiencing a significantly long delay when launching the File Explorer. It can take between 25 s to 2 min until the File Explorer is launching.

Windows Performance Analyzer is showing that there is a specific App-V dll file that is locking the resources and seems to be causing the delay:

I disabled the App-V client in msconfig. Suddenly the problem disappeared. The file explorer took 1-2 s to open instead!

However, this is not a solution for the customer because of their heavy usage of App-V applications.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Any known solution?

    Regards, Christian

  • Hi,

There is some compatible issue on windows 10 1709 if you are using App-v. May I ask what is your system version before you upgrade to 1709?

Here is a fix for using App-v on windows 10 1709:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4074588/windows-10-update-kb4074588

So it is suggested that you can install the latest updates on the machine.

A workaround is mentioned in the link ,which says change the registry key value to 1.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AppV\Client\Compatibility  ContainerRegistryEnabled

  • Hi!

From Windows 10 1607. The issue occurs in Win 10 1709 both in refresh and wipe and load scenarios.

The fix is already implemented but it does not make any difference for this issue.

  • Have you tried to reinstall/update the application?

There is a App-v forum in Technet, you can contact them for help.
