ExMon crashes RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

In our environment we are unable to get the results in ExMon. Every time the application tries to update the data, it crashes.

This happens on any of the 4 Exchange 2010 MBX servers and on any of the 4 CAS/HUB servers.

All servers are fully patched Windows 2008 R2 sp1 servers with Exchange 2010 Sp2 Ru3. ExMon is being run "as administrator".

    Anyone any ideas?

    Kind regards,

    Twan

  • Hi,

The latest version of exmon that is available on the Internet download link below is crashing under the following condition

    http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=11461

    1) Install the exmon from the internet site on a Exchange 2010 CAS Server.

    2)  Launch Exmon from the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Exchange User Monitor

    3)  Exmon will start and capture normal

    Please do not refresh.

Exmon keeps crashing, installed at standard location, didn't do any refresh!

    You should change the design!!

  • I've run into the same problem this morning with ExMon v14.2.247 on Exchange 2007 SP2 running on Windows Server 2008 SP2. I'm not manually refreshing ExMon, its getting to it's automatic 1 minute refresh and cancelling. This is be design?! Nice design!

In case this helps anyone, on our server the trace is still happening in the background after it crashes. You can see this by running "logman query -ets" from the command line and looking for the "Exchange Event Trace" data collection set. An etl file is being written to under "C:\Program Files (x86)\Exchange User Monitor". Once that reaches 500MB (which I think is the default size on ExMon before the trace stops) you can open this file by running:

    c:\Program Files (x86)\Exchange User Monitor>ExMon.exe <tracefile>.etl

    Mark.

  • Well, I was experiencing the same issues with ExMON crashing each time it would try to refresh at the Default 60 minute interval. Each time after the crash I would get the Stack Trace error. I would go to cmd line and type - logman stop "Exchange Event Trace" -ets - to kill it.

I moved the "Exchange User Monitor" folder from "C:\Program Files" to a another folder that was excluded from Anti-Virus scanning and fired up ExMON. It worked like a charm.

Hope that helps any of you!!
