"windows explorer has stopped working" error RRS feed

    I was installing new updates on my windows vista home premium sp1. Then I wanted to copy and paste something from a folder and get the error "windows explorer has stopped working" and then the windows explorer restarted. Then i went to right click an application file and a shortcut file inside a folder and it gave me the same error again.

     

    My Computer Specs:

    Hp Pavillion Laptop

    Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU T8100 @ 2.10 GHZ

    3.00GB RAM

    32-bit Operating System

    Hi,

     

    You can try the following methods to test the issue:

     

    1.    Go into Safe Mode (Restart computer, press the F8 key when the boot menu pops up, select [Safe Mode], and boot up) and check if the issue still occurs.

     

    2.    Create a new user account and test the issue in this account.

     

    3.    Perform a System Restore to a state before the issue began to occur.
