  • Question

  • I uninstalled windows live mail 2011 because it wasn't working correctly in Windows 10. I do not like windows 10 and found a way to revert back to windows 7. I wanted to reinstall windows live mail 2011 but when I try to download it, it says I already have it. I cannot find it anywhere. I do have an outlook mail program but I am unable to reply or forward any mail. How do I install windows live mail 2011?

  • Hi,

Firstly, I would like to know how you back to Windows 7. Do you reverting to Windows 7 by the “Go to Previous OS” option in WinRE when you are in Windows 10?

If it does, I infer the program exits in the Windows.old folder although you uninstalled it Windows 10. I suggest you follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issue.

    1. Check the Windows Live Mail installation path folder. If the program files still in the folder, you can try to click the Windows Live Mail setup icon to start it. If it start successfully, you can make a shortcut for it and then you can use it normally.
    2. If it failed to start or the installation folder is clear, you can try to delete the original folder first and delete some keys below in registry.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail desktop

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail desktop

After that, rename the message store folder. The default folder is under the path:

    C:\Users\<Windows user account>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

At last, download Windows Live Mail in the link below and reinstall it.

Wish you can install it successfully

  • Since Microsoft does not support windows live mail anymore those links in this are bad or dead links now. Where can I find the Windows Live Mail program in an unmolested format? Found 2 or 3 links doing a web search but one is in German and anther is trying to sign me up for something that has nothing to do with Windows Live mail
