  • Hello All,

    Can we host a DHCP role on Azure Virtual Machines?

  • I'm sure it was not supported till recently but looks like there is no mention of it in the document. You may give a try

  • Azure does not support DHCP running on virtual machines. In fact, broadcasts are not transmitted on vNets, which prevents anything that relies on broadcast from running on virtual machines.

  • DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol Server) windows server role is not supported in Microsoft Azure virtual Machines. Please see https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2721672?wa=wsignin1.0 for more info.

    Also to add, it doesn't have a static IP defined. If you defined a static IP through the Azure PowerShell  but the DHCP server software still sees it as 'dynamic.'Please see https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2721672?wa=wsignin1.0 for more info.
