Protection Group for SQL Test Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi folks,

I'm looking for directions for the following scenario:
SQL developer are using different SQL databases and are renaming them to their needs.
The SQL protection group is successfully adding the "new" databases for protection.
But the old names are displayed as errors because the database can not be backuped anymore.

How can I avoid the errors for databases that are not present anymore on the SQL server?
As far as I understand the "auto" protection feature is only adding new databases but does not remove deleted or renamed databases.

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi,

Yes, you are correct, auto protection will just add new databases.

In my opinion, you should write a Powershell Script, to remove not existing Databases, that should be the easiest way.

  • Hello Michael,

    Thank you for your answer.
That is what I thought, too.

But at the moment I don't know, how I can query the existing DBs on the SQL instance from DPM.
Do you know how I can do that? Or do I have to take SQL statements?

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards,
