Locking down SharePoint Groups RRS feed

  • Question

  • Using Office 365. Many times accidentally SharePoint Permission Groups get accidentally deleted from sites or libraries. Is there a way to lock down SharePoint Groups or see a warning message?

  • Hi Mayankguru,

No there is no way to lock down the Group. If the User has Permissions then he can delete the SharePoint Groups but it will always pops up the warning saying going to delete that group if you click on OK then only it will let you delete.

One more thing even though you delete the group from Site Permissions it still exists in People & Groups Section you can always add that group again. but if you delete from People & Groups then it will gone permanently.

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Hi, Mayankguru,

Just as Sharath said, there is no way to lock down the group. The MS recommended way to handle is making sure only proper users have the permission to edit Permission Groups. And When you try to delete a group or remove any user, there is always a pop up window for confirmation.

Here is an article about permission levels: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/understanding-permission-levels Only grant users the least permission level they need is always way to manage permission issues.

    Best Regards

    Jerry
