SCCM 2012 client Install process for a new server being brought online RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

My SCCM 2012 client installs fine on any new servers coming online. However, I am just wondering the auto install push process. I know my server gets assigned the correct SCCM site because of the boundary group it is in, but at what point does the client install? Just curious of the process the new server goes through when getting the new SCCM client.

  • First your new server will get discovered by one of the discovery methods: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg712308.aspx

Then when it's discovered it will add an entry in the ccr inbox and then the push installation will get started.

  • Okay, so when does the boundary group come into play? Do it get discovered first or does it need to see the boundary group first?

  • It will get discovered first, then it will match a boundry to the client before the push installation starts.
